Storm Doors Galore installs sliding glass and hinged French patio doors in Columbus, Delaware, Sunbury, Pickerington and Grove City, Ohio. We handle replacements in existing openings and projects that call for a new or enlarged opening. Paul Knox reviews the project and prepares the estimate before materials are ordered.
Sliding or hinged: start with how you use the space
A sliding patio door moves along a track rather than swinging into the room or onto the patio. It is worth considering when furniture or a narrow outdoor landing limits swing clearance. The opening size, operating panel and screen arrangement still need to suit the way you enter and leave the house.
Hinged French patio doors swing open. Plan for the full door swing, nearby furniture, steps and the outdoor landing. Tell Paul whether you want one active door or a configuration with two operating doors. The selected model and the opening determine which arrangement will fit.
Patio-door replacement and changes to the opening
For a replacement, Paul reviews the existing unit, frame, threshold and surrounding trim. A door that sticks or leaks does not by itself show how much concealed framing needs attention. The estimate should identify the removal, opening repairs, installation, hardware and finish work included in your project.
A new or enlarged opening needs a different review. Wall framing, support above the opening, nearby utilities, exterior finishes and access to the patio can affect the work. Paul can review these projects, but the final scope depends on site conditions and any applicable structural or permit requirements. Share the proposed location before choosing a door size.
JELD-WEN, ProVia and Masonite options
We install JELD-WEN and ProVia sliding and hinged patio doors, and Masonite hinged French doors. Have a model in mind? Include the brand and model with your request. Paul checks the dimensions, configuration and availability for the project before purchasing materials.
You can review JELD-WEN patio doors, ProVia patio doors and Masonite doors on the manufacturer websites. Product selection for your opening is part of the estimate conversation.
